5C Student Really Excited for 2-3 Hours of A Cappella

Today’s the day. The Southern California A Cappella Music Festival. How lucky I am to be alive, how blessed I am to attend the Claremont Colleges, how fortunate I am to watch such a talented group of singers followed by another group of singers followed by another group of singers followed by another group of singers followed by another group of singers followed by another followed by another group of singers followed by another group of singers followed by another group of singers followed by another.

This event truly is the ultimate Southern California musical showcase: not only are there 5C a cappella groups, but sometimes USC shows up too! And, like, UC Davis!

The only thing I love more than collegiate a cappella is paying $10 to see collegiate a cappella! Woohoo!

I can’t wait to support my musical friends on the big stage tonight. I also can’t wait to enter an a cappella induced fugue-state in which I am so overcome with sheer melodious desire that I forget my own name and how old I am and what school I go to because the only thing that matters is the music; a rich vocal tapestry, painting the canvas of collective imagination. This usually happens by the second song.

SCAMFest changes a person. I enter Big Bridges excited to see some music, I leave Big Bridges wondering if I have what it takes to audition as a beatboxer. Scary stuff.

My only complaint about SCAMFest is that I wish it was longer.
