“L.A. Sucks” Says 5C Student Without Car

Now that I’ve finished my first semester of college and taken the Metrolink a couple of times, I’m ready to declare that the entire city of Los Angeles is lame and stupid. Sorry, not sorry. I’m ready to live in a real place with a real public transportation system. Like New York City! I love New York City.

I want my cities walkable, and you can’t walk anywhere in Los Angeles. I know this because I’ve Ubered in from the suburbs before — to see Charli XCX at the Kia Forum. It cost my parents over $100 and the drive was over an hour each way. Why would anyone choose to live like this?

Don’t get me started on gas prices. I’ve never had to buy gas, but I’ve heard that it’s really expensive here.

When I went to the beach with my friends (in a Zipcar), I was shocked at how much traffic there was on the Interstate 10. It was 8:30 in the morning on a weekday. Why were there so many people trying to go into the city? New York City doesn’t get traffic like this. I love New York City.

Besides, there’s nothing really to do in L.A. — I’ve already been to Santa Monica Pier and bought a smoothie at Erewhon, so I’ve had plenty of experience to base this opinion off of.

It’s perfectly normal not to have your license at this age.
