Have you heard the good news? Pitzer student explains entire LOTR plot to fellow student

Have you seen the movies? Oh, you haven’t? That’s ok. So the worst part about Return of the King, and especially the Extended Edition, is that Elrond and the elves from Imladris (Rivendell in Westron lol) save the day at Helm’s Deep, but that NEVER HAPPENS in the books. I was furious when I saw it. The notion that any sort of militarized alliance between Elves and Men, beyond equipping the Fellowship and time in Lothlorien, is ludicrous on its face and Peter Jackson is the worst human being alive for doing what he did.

I mean come on, SERIOUSLY?! Not since the time of Gil-galad, thousands of years ago, when the Dunedain were strong and, for fuck’s sake, had ARNOR in their possession, would the Elves have come to the rescue like that. Not even accounting for the kinstrife later on in Gondor, I mean yes, to be fair, Aragorn and Elrond had a special connection, but that the Elves would have left Rivendell to go all the way to Helm’s Deep, for the common people, is just horrific. A massive, gaping plot hole that — well, you should really read the books — I just need you to know about. Do you want to come back to my place?
