This afternoon a major student protest was held outside the Jennington Pavilion for Social Advancement at Pomona College. In attendance was one Jervis Jennington Jr., who claims no relation. When asked directly by this reporter, he said “no, but I get that a lot”. Directly after that interaction he put on a fake mustache; we are still unsure if the events are related.
Right after that, a chant began in the crowd: “Jennington will burn in hell!” to which Jennington Jr. (again, supposedly no relation) softly protested “well, hey guys, maybe that isn’t entirely fair… you guys haven’t seen all the good things we’ve—I mean he’s—done.”
“Maybe we should take it down a notch. What happened to nonviolent protest?” This seemed to confuse nearby students, which raised suspicion in the crowd that Jervis wasn’t who he said he was.
Tensions only rose when students spotted Jennington himself waving to Jervis from an upper floor window. He then called out, “how are classes going, kiddo?” Upon seeing this Jervis awkwardly waved and turned to the student next to him and said “get a load of this guy, who does he think he is?”
Later, this reporter spotted him on the phone whispering “Dad I told you not to embarrass me during the protest, you’re so annoying! God!” before storming back into the crowd.
Students in the crowd, now highly suspicious, pulled up Jervis’ instagram and saw a since deleted post of Jennington Jr and Sr. at the Jennington family ski lodge last winter. When this reporter reached out to Jervis for comment, he denied knowledge of the post.
At a strike planning meeting the following week, Jervis announced he would be taking the semester off to volunteer in underserved communities, ending his statement with the phrase “not saying it’s a competition, but I think I win praxis”. Later on, the Golden Antlers discovered Jervis was not in fact in an underserved community, unless the Jennington yacht in Ibiza counts.
